The Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) reported a 9% year-on-year increase in new enrolments in the September 2024 ESI Scheme, with 20.58 lakh new workers joining the scheme. This growth highlights the scheme's expanding reach and social security coverage for workers across India, with a 1.70 lakh increase compared to the previous year.

The data showed a significant increase in registrations from 18.88 lakh in September 2023, indicating an increase in participation in the scheme.

Representation of Youth and Women

The ESI Scheme in India has seen a significant increase in younger workers, with 48.83% of new enrolments falling within the age group of 25 or younger, and a strong presence of female workers, with 3.91 lakh women joining in September 2024.

Inclusivity

The ESI Scheme promotes inclusion, with 64 transgender employees applying for coverage in September 2024. This demonstrates ESIC's commitment to providing social security benefits to all segments of society while ensuring equal access to its services.

Increased Establishments

In September 2024, the ESI Scheme added 23,043 new enterprises, increasing its scope. These increased registrations guarantee that more workers get social security benefits, highlighting the importance of ESI as a key social safety net.

Provisional Data

ESIC's payroll data is preliminary, as it is collected and generated continuously. The results are subject to change, but the existing data show that the ESI Scheme is becoming increasingly popular and having a good influence on the workforce.
