The rising dengue scare is worrying me. Does it make sense to buy a dengue-care-specific cover?

Your cause of worry is understandable. Do know that dengue-specific plans would cover only medical expenses arising from dengue. These policies are available for individuals and families as a family cover, but typically offer cover for Rs 1 lakh or so, which may not be sufficient if you have more than one family member being admitted due to dengue. Do not depend on just a dengue cover, do make sure you have a standalone health insurance policy, because health scare is not just on count of dengue, but exists for other diseases and ailments that you and your family members could catch.
