The financial goal that you are investing for, including the amount of money you need and the time you have to achieve the goal determine the time frame for investment. Do not be blinded by short- or long-term investing just by the terminology and stick to investing based on how far your financial goals are. So, if the goal is 5-7 years hence, you will be investing in equity and equity-oriented mutual funds, and if it is up to 2-3 years, consider investing in debt funds.
