RBI UDGAM: Find Out Unclaimed Amount In Banks, Here’s How

With the help of Udgam platform, information about unclaimed deposits lying in banks will be available. At the start this facility was available for 7 banks. The facility to trace unclaimed amount lying in other banks was made available in a phase-wise manner.

It has become easy to trace the unclaimed amount lying in the banks of the country. To help bank account holders, the Reserve Bank of India has launched a centralized web portal UDGAM (Unclaimed Deposits – Gateway to Access Information). With this step of RBI, all the information regarding unclaimed amount will be available at one place. The objective of the UDGAM platform is to help people locate the unclaimed amount and identify the appropriate claimant from one place. The Platform is meant to provide a gateway for eligible claimants to access unclaimed deposits.

Details of unclaimed deposits lying in these banks are available

The UDGAM platform has been developed by RBI to make it easier for people to search for their unclaimed deposits in multiple banks at one place and claim them. Earlier, there were 7 banks on the portal: State Bank of India, Punjab National Bank, Central Bank of India, Dhanlaxmi Bank Ltd, South Indian Bank. Information about unclaimed deposits is available in South Indian Bank Ltd), DBS Bank India Ltd and Citibank NA. Now, there are 30 banks list of which is available on the website.

How to register?

  • First of all, visit the official website of UDGAM.

  • If you are visiting this platform for the first time, you will have to register.

  • You will be able to register by clicking on the link udgam.rbi.org.in/unclaimed-deposits/#/register and giving your consent to the mobile number, name, password, captcha code and appropriate conditions.

  • After the registration process starts, you will be able to make a claim by verifying the unclaimed deposit details with the help of all the necessary details.

  • Reserve Bank of India Information Technology Private Limited (ReBIT), Indian Institute of Financial Technology and Allied Services (IFTAS) and participating banks collaborated in developing the portal.

₹42,270 crore in total unclaimed bank deposits

According to information presented in Parliament on December 19, there were ₹42,270 crore in total unclaimed bank deposits in the fiscal year 2023—a 28 percent increase over the same period the previous year.

Last year, public sector banks had transferred unclaimed deposits of about Rs 35,000 crore to RBI. These were those deposit accounts which were not operated for 10 years or more. State Bank of India (SBI) is on top in terms of unclaimed deposits with Rs 8,086 crore.
