Recently my car met with an accident and was immobilized. I arranged for towing the car but the cost of towing was very high. Will my comprehensive insurance policy cover these expenses?

If the motor car is disabled as a result of the damage which is covered under the policy, the towing charges are payable. In fact a comprehensive car policy also provides for the payment of a reasonable cost of protecting the car in the event of an accident, removing it to the nearest repairers and also the cost of re-delivery to the insured. However, the liability of the insurers for all the above costs put together is limited to Rs 2,500 in respect of any one accident. However, if you have an add-on 24X7 service cover, the insurer would have organised to tow your car and paid in full for it.
