I have investments through SIPs in HDFC Top 200, HDFC Taxsaver and BSL Frontline Equity for the past five years. My portfolio has no gold and I am interested in gold investment. Should I invest in gold ETF or a gold fund?

The three funds that you are currently investing in are good and form a well diversified portfolio. You should continue investing in it regularly and track their performance. You may be in a better position if you stay away from investing in gold, as the yellow metal has not been faring well as an investment for some years now. Yes, if you still wish to invest in gold, you could do so with both the ETF and the gold fund. You will need a demat account to invest in gold ETFs, but that is not the case for the gold funds. Depending on your convenience and investment needs; you could consider any of the options to invest in gold.
