Ideally you should look for a health insurance policy before a life cover at this stage of your life. You should then look for a life cover. Do take a life cover a few years before you get married, so that you prepare your dependents for financial contingencies. It is advisable that you go for a health policy immediately and add a life cover a few years later with a pure risk term insurance plan.
