Health and travel are two different classes of risks. Talking of health insurance you need to cover yourself against the risks from accidents and sickness. You already have personal accident insurance. You may add a health policy to cover the sickness part. While securing a policy you must disclose your interest in the sport of river rafting as the same may have a material difference in the risk perception of the underwriters. In case you are travelling out of the country for the river rafting, you should get yourself an overseas travel policy, which also covers health-related risks when travelling abroad. This policy will not only cover you for the hospitalization expenses following an injury or sickness but also cover the travel related risks viz. loss of passport, delayed arrival of baggage etc. These days insurers offer specialised accident-related policies which is useful for those in extreme sports – you could consider taking such a policy.
