My father has a mediclaim health policy and was admitted to a nursing home for an ailment and then discharged from the hospital. Later, due to relapse of the illness, he was again admitted, this time to a different hospital. How should he file the claim in this case? Can he claim the expenses as one incident or he will have to file two separate claims.

Your father can claim expenses in both the hospitals under a single claim because the expenditure was incurred for the same ailment. Even the expenses incurred on diagnosis and medicines one month prior to first hospitalisation and two months after the discharge from second hospitalization will also be eligible for reimbursement. From your question it is obvious that he did not claim the cashless facility from either of the hospitals. Therefore, he should file one claim with the insurers enclosing all the supporting papers and bills. This may take some time to get cleared, but that should not be a reason for you to postpone or delay the claims filing process.
