Back in 2018, crypto faced the negative press, controversies, confusion, and from some, even their wrath, as they were seen as a probable threat to INR. This had us wondering how little was known about crypto and how much the people were confused! The RBI’s banking ban on cryptos further reaffirmed this. We knew it then- even if the decision was reversed, there was no point in winning the case- cryptos were still a misunderstood class. It had become pertinent to talk about the evolution of cryptos to the masses and the government. The crypto community needed to have a voice.

Each day, we would post a tweet tagging the government and ministers, urging them to partake in the global crypto revolution, while trying to create better awareness and understanding among the youth. Since then crypto enthusiasts have been tweeting and retweeting the hashtag, learning themselves, informing their friends, and extending support to the initiative.

For us, every single tweet has been a step ahead towards our mission to spread the right information about crypto, achieve A+ crypto regulations in India and extend our belief in the potential of crypto to others. And we aren’t stopping till we reach there and beyond.

We reached amazing milestones in our journey towards 1000 days. The #IndiaWantsCrypto that started as a standalone campaign now has a community all gung ho about crypto and its future prospects in India. Several discussion forums have grown around the hashtag with people reaching out to their crypto peers, talking debates, discussing opinions, and pushing the case of crypto together as a community. The mainstream media coverage of the campaign has contributed a lot in getting crypto in the minds of the people as well as the Parliament corridors.

The community’s enthused stance on cryptos supported by sitting MPs, celebrities, and other crypto exchanges in India, led to the Supreme Court ruling in favour of cryptos. But for us, the battle had just begun.

There are young people that look forward to the tweets each day- the campaign acting as their alma mater. The people in the bear market especially, pulled themselves ahead leaning on this campaign. There were heartwarming stories of young entrepreneurs who started their crypto journey from the hashtag campaign, learned their way forward and became independent.

You don’t start something big thinking that you will make it big, you start with a mission in your mind- that’s what led us ahead to achieve this feat and we intend to continue doing this for a long time. What the internet did for the world online, we believe, crypto holds the same potential for India as the second wave of technology.

With its organic reach, the campaign is proving a beacon for the Indian cryptizens to make their voice heard as a community. The 1000 days celebration of the #IndiaWantsCrypto campaign isn’t just ours, it is the success of the entire Indian community promoting the next revolution in technology. Crypto aren’t just a passion driving us, it is an emotion tying us all together!
