The National Financial Literacy Assessment Test (NFLAT) conducted by the National Centre for Financial Education (NCFE), from now on can be taken any time through the year. Ajay Tyagi, Chairman, SEBI, made this announcement while speaking at a function organised to award the winners of NFLAT 2016 at the NISM Patalganga campus. Unlike the existing model where students could take the NFLAT only during particular period when the tests are announced, from now on students will be able to take the test as per their convenience. The NFLAT is an investor education initiative that has so far witnessed over five lakh students taking part in the test from over 4,000 schools. This initiative is the first step towards introducing and inculcating financial literacy among students at the school level. The regulator is serious about the financial literacy drive and has been instrumental in taking financial education to about 550 districts in the country with its unique resource person model since 2010. SEBI has an exclusive investor website which serves as a major source of information for investors. SEBI recognises Investors’ Associations (IAs) and presently there are 19 IAs involved in investor education activities.
