In its ongoing legal dispute with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase has found support from a group of legal experts.
The experts in an amicus brief has urged a court to adhere to the established definition of “investment contract” when interpreting its scope.
In its petition to the US District Court of New York's Southern District on August 11, it emphasized that the outcome may have an influence beyond the persons directly involved.
Meanwhile, the newly-launched Coinbase layer-2 network, Base, has decided to deploy its masterpiece NFT collection. The Base project is Coca Cola’s foray into the world of nonfungible tokens (NFTs). Coinbase introduced the new Coca-Cola collection on August 13.
In a statement, Coca Cola said that it is launching its global masterpiece campaign online with “iconic works from leading artists.”
The masterpiece series combines historic works of Edvard Munch's “The Scream” with fresh creations from up-and-coming artists, “all intertwined with the iconic Coca-Cola bottle.”
Several other digital collectible projects such as Zora, Pixelmon, Showtime, and Indelible, are also scheduled to debut this month.
New Bruce Lee Anime Has Whiff Of NFTs
There have been rumors that a new anime project based on the late martial artist Bruce Lee would have an NFT component. The upcoming project, titled “House of Lee,” is scheduled to debut in 2024. It has support from Shannon Lee, the daughter of Bruce Lee and the Bruce Lee Estate.
Observers have noted that Emily Yang, a successful NFT animator, is the animation artist while the animation company is Shockunit from China, recognised for its NFT projects, according to The A.V. Club.
The producer, Shibuya, also manages a platform for crowdsourcing initiatives through NFT sales. The “House of Lee: Genesis” NFT compilation was released in April.
According to a source, cited in a report, the cartoon intends to advertise the collection, whose prices have dropped from $15 to roughly $6–$10.
In the teaser trailer for “Enter the Dragon”, Bruce Lee is presented in a vintage anime performing martial arts and changing into a dragon.
