A recent social media post that is going viral claims that the central government is providing a monthly allowance of Rs 6,000 to unemployed youth under the Pradhan Mantri Berojgari Bhatta Yojana 2024. However, this claim is false, and is only aimed at driving traffic to a website. But similar misinformation is circulated via WhatsApp, where their motives can be shady, and clicking on such links or sharing personal or bank details can prove dangerous.

Unemployment allowance, also known as Berojgari Bhatta, is an allowance provided by the government to provide financial aid to unemployed individuals, to help cover their basic living expenses or as internship fees in exchange for skill training. These schemes giving berojgari bhatta vary from state to state in India.

Rajasthan Government's Yuva Sambal Yojana

Under this scheme unemployed males receive Rs 4,000, while similar females get Rs 4,500 monthly. Applicants must be graduates with an annual family income below Rs 2 lakh. One should participate in a skill development courses as an intern and work there to receive the income support.

One can apply through the SSO Rajasthan website ‘sso.rajasthan.gov.in’ . Select new registration and fill all personal details including physical attributes, education qualifications, communication details and the technical course you are attending. One should also upload the attendance details to receive the berojgari bhatta.

Himachal Pradesh's Unemployment Allowance Scheme

The Unemployment Allowance Scheme run from 2017 in Himachal Pradesh targets educated unemployed youth where Rs 1,000 per month is being paid to any candidate if he has passed 10+2. Even if the candidate has passed Post graduate Rs 1,000 will only be provided. The eligible Physically Challenged applicant will receive as much as Rs. 1,500 per month.

Eligible applicants include those aged 20 to 35 years, can apply online through the E-Portal of Labour and Employment Department of Himachal Pradesh by providing necessary documents. They should enter the Employment Exchange Registration Number, give necessary details and upload Attested Copy of Employment Registration Card, Income Certificate (Not more than 6 months old) and scheme's self-declaration form.

Chhattisgarh's Berojgari Bhatta Yojana

Under this scheme, eligible beneficiaries receive Rs 2500 monthly directly deposited into their bank accounts. The scheme only provides support initially upto one year, and i you don't get a job by then, it can be extended for up to two years, subject to you attending the skill development training. Attendance in training program is mandatory.

Applicants must be Chhattisgarh natives aged 18 to 35 years and should have a 12th-grade education and their family income must be below Rs 2.5 lakh annually.

To apply one must upload Income certificate, residence certificate, employment registration card, 10th class and 12th class marksheet when applying online at - berojgaribhatta.cg.nic.in.

Other states like Uttar Pradesh and Bihar also offer similar berojgari bhattas, if you enroll via respective government portals. However, the allowance amounts and clause of internships and their durations may vary. But applicants should be cautious against misinformation such as PM Bherojgari Bhatta and verify details or apply only from official government sources.
