The Union Cabinet has approved the much-anticipated PAN 2.0 Project, which will provide a free upgrade to PAN cards, incorporating a QR code for improved security and convenience. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the project has been approved with an estimated budget of Rs 1,435 crore. Minister Vaishnaw highlighted that the new system would introduce a uniform, paperless, online platform, overhauling the existing infrastructure. He also stated that a strong grievance redressal system would be prioritized in order to improve service delivery quality.
