The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has extended the deadline for making free updates to Aadhaar by three months. Originally set for September 14, 2023, the deadline has now been extended to December 14, 2023, UIDAI announced in an official release.
The UIDAI release said: “In order to encourage more residents to update their document in Aadhaar, it was decided to provide the provision to update their document in Aadhaar through myAadhaar portal free of cost up to September 14, 2023. Based on the positive response from the residents, it is decided to extend the facility for three more months i.e., from September 14, 2023 to December 14, 2023. Accordingly, the facility for document update shall continue free of cost through the myAadhaar portal up to December 14, 2023.”
UIDAI wants Aadhaar cardholders aged 10 years and above to verify and update their information. Accurate demographic data is essential, and for that it requires the submission of identity and certificates of proof of address. Besides the change in name and address, UIDAI has also asked citizens to update any other changes, such as death or change in marital status.

This process can be used to update various details on your Aadhaar card by selecting the specific information you wish to modify or update.
Also note that the process to update Aadhaar information for free is open until December 14. You can also visit a Common Services Center (CSC) for these updates, by paying a nominal fee of Rs. 25.
Aadhaar Linking With Small Savings Schemes
It’s crucial to note that if you have invested small saving schemes, such as Public Provident Fund (PPF), Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY), or National Savings Certificate, you must update your Aadhaar number with India Post for ‘know your customer’ (KYC) requirements before September 30, 2023.
Failure to comply could result in the account being frozen starting from October 1, 2023. New account holders have a six-month window to link their Aadhaar from the date of account opening.
