State Bank of India on April 4, 2023 announced that its digital services have been restored following a technical glitch that occurred a day earlier. A number of services of the country’s largest bank were reported to be down since Monday morning, April 3, 2023, including Netbanking, UPI, and the YONO app.

As reported by the bank’s customers, all of SBI’s online services have been down for a few hours due to problems with the bank’s servers. Customers took to social media to complain about problems logging into the Internet banking and mobile application of the bank after their credit card payments, money transfers, failed due to outage.

“The bank’s Internet services have remained down since March 30, 2023,” The Telegraph said quoting sources.

State Bank of India said, “We regret to inform you that due to a ‘technical glitch’, some of our digital services were impacted for a few hours on April 3, 2023. However, the issue stands resolved, and the digital services are live and restored. We apologise for the inconvenience to our valued customers. The bank is always working toward implementing measures to prevent such occurrences. We thank you for your patience and continued trust in SBI”.

“Dear @FinMinIndia @RBI , Servers of SBI are not functioning properly since March 31, 2023. Today is the 4th day and the site/apps are completely down since the morning. Is this a cyberattack on the bank or just usual achedin? Need answers, consumers are taking huge losses,” a Twitter user wrote.

Another user wrote, “It has now become a routine affair. Absolutely pathetic services. The SBI employees, too, have some lethargic attitude. The government seriously need to look into this!”

“I fail to understand how #SBI bank deducts EMI amount on time if server down, but customer can’t use Internet banking or UPI,” a Twitter user took a jibe at SBI.

Users also complained about a similar outage with the bank’s server on April 2, 2023, Sunday.

“We understand your concern. After the annual closing activities, the services of INB / Yono / Yono Lite / Yono Business / UPI are available from 4.30 PM onwards. Customers may make use of these services,” SBI said in a tweet on Sunday.
