In 2016, while working for a multinational firm, I was looking out for some investment options. Since I had just started working, I was looking for an investment tool that would be safe; where I could start  with a small amount and gradually increase my investment and also a process that was not much tedious  and time consuming.

After doing a lot of research and consulting a lot of people, including financial advisors, I realised I should start with gold. Also, it is always said that you should invest at least 10-25 per cent of your savings or  investment portfolio in gold. I continued my research and found that there are multiple ways of investing in this gleaming metal contrary to traditional jewellery.

I came across options such as gold bonds and ETFs; but what caught my attention was—Digi-Gold. At that time the concept was just freshly introduced and there were very limited companies who were offering this option unlike today. Somehow it clicked that this would be the way ahead for the gold industry and I was right.

The digital platforms for buying gold sold products for as low as ?1, which intrigued me. So post exploring all the options I settled for Gold SIP. The plan was best suited to my interest.

I opted for flexible SIP plan as being a first-time investor I was not sure how it would work for me. It was a three-step process where all I had to do was select the amount, tenure and the day of deduction. And I was good to go.

I invested 10 per cent of my salary every month for three years and last month, the tenure completed. I have successfully achieved my target of accumulating Gold and reaped the benefit of value appreciation without any hassle. With increasing Gold prices, I plan to start another SIP but with a bigger amount this time. For me gold will always be the go-to option when it comes to investing because it is truly a safe haven for a common person like me.
