Architect Of One’s Own Destiny
Tasneem Mithaiwala, 45 Stock Trader Mumbai
Vishav - 20 October 2019

Tasneem Mithaiwala,  45, a single mother, had been working as a personality development trainer for several years. Hailing from Mumbai, Mithaiwala was born into a Gujarati family of many stock traders and investors.

Two years ago, she had to give up her job for her responsibilities towards her two daughters and also due to her parents’ rising health concerns. It was then that her journey as a trader began.

On her cousin’s advice, she started stock market trading but within a few months, her initial capital of `5 lakh was reduced to Rs1.75 lakh. “This is when my best friend advised me to understand the rules, before playing the game,” Mithaiwala said.

Picking up on the advice, she started to educate herself and enrolled in Finlearn Academy, a trading and investment education institution. Her journey took a turn and in the last two years, she had turned into a pro trader, and now also a trainer!

Today, she is able to earn independently from the comfort of her home and also manages her family expenses in a better way. “I have three portfolios—salary, luxury and a wealth portfolio. I earn Rs70,000 to Rs1 lakh every month through the salary portfolio and use the luxury portfolio for big ticket shopping and trips,” said Mithaiwala. She added that her aim is to expand her wealth portfolio to Rs50 crore.

“Trading has provided me with the privilege to balance my time between work and family. And today, women approach me to overcome their apprehension about the industry and for advice,” she said.
