Sebi Launches Investor Certification Examination: Know Course Content, Application Procedure of SICE

Securities and Exchanges Board of India on June 11, 2024, announced that it is running a free, voluntary online certificate course called Sebi Investor Certification Examination (SICE) to provide aspirants with extensive knowledge of stock market investment.

Course Content

Further the course content covers many finance-related subjects such as inflation, power of compounding, retirement planning, debt management, etc. The course covers information about various government schemes, structure of primary and secondary securities markets, role of stock exchanges, depositories, and regulatory bodies.

Further investors will be made aware about risks associated with investment such as credit risk, market risk, liquidity risk and ways to manage such risks.

NISM Course

This voluntary certification is developed in partnership with the National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM), to enable investors assess their understanding of markets and investment strategies, Sebi said in a release. National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) is a public trust established by Sebi that offers a variety of certification courses on subjects including merchant banking, investment advisors, and currency derivatives, among others.

During the launch of the course, Ananth Narayan G, whole time member of Sebi said, "This online exam will help enhance investors' understanding of the investment process and the associated risks in the securities market, and thus promote an efficient approach to investment aligned with the risk appetite of the investor".

Sebi Investor Certification Examination (SICE)

There is no eligibility requirement concerning age as well as educational qualification to take the SICE exam. Study material can be download from the NISM official website. For additional material, candidates can use the content available on the Sebi Investor Website (investor.sebi.gov.in/iematerial.html).

Once enrolled, candidates can appear for the exam within 6 months from the date of enrolment. Candidates can register for the examination by filling in the Online Registration Form available on the NISM Online Certification System at - certifications.nism.ac.in

Once registration is approved, aspirants can enrol for the exam on the NISM Online Certification System, by opting for online exam and selecting your preferred date and time of exam. The examination consists of a total of 50 questions to be completed in one hour.
