Consistency has been the hallmark of Mirae Asset India Opportunities Fund since its inception, and it has been a stable performer irrespective of market movements. With its portfolio predominantly in large-cap stocks, the fund follows the strategy to invest in stocks with quality at reasonable price. By using return on capital employed (RoCE) and an adequate margin of safety as the key filters to select stocks, there is little room for going wrong with stock selection.
All these aspects have helped the fund’s asset swell and it has steadily outdone its benchmark over the long run. Further, it avoids the companies where business fundamentals are not up to the mark and those which are too expensive. Though it has not been tested in a big way as yet, in the market blip of 2011, the fund managed to contain its downside well.
