Web intermediaries

The insurance regulator IRDAI has issued draft guidelines in which it has proposed to put web-aggregators under the ambit of insurance intermediaries. What this means is that web aggregators can now become the channel to distribute insurance. At present, web aggrega-tors compile and provide information about insurance policies of various companies on their websites as the regulator has mandated them to provide unbiased information of insurance products on different types of policies, but not sell these products. With this move, the aggregator can also get into sale of policies.
