India's daily Coronavirus cases dipped below two lakh for the first time since April 14. On Tuesday, the country reported 1,96,427 new Covid cases, with 3,511 deaths, according to the health ministry.

India had 2,00,739 infections as of April 14. This is the first time since April 14 that the number of cases has fallen below two lakh.

The total tally of Covid-19 patients in India is now 2,69,48,874, with 25,86,782 active cases and 3,07,231 deaths.More than 50,000 people have succumbed to the virus in India in the last 13 days.

India became the world's third country after the United States and Brazil to surpass three-lakh deaths owing to Coronavirus infections on Monday.

As of May 25, the health ministry reports that a total of 3,26,850 individuals have been discharged in the last 24 hours, with 2,40,54,861 individuals cured of Covid. A total of 19,85,38,999 persons have been vaccinated in the country, with 24,40,236 receiving vaccines in the last 24 hours.

33,25,94,176 samples were tested for Covid-19 till May 24, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). On Monday, 20,58,112 of these samples were tested.

On Wednesday, India registered a record of 4,529 fatalities which is the highest number of Covid caused deaths in any country since the Coronavirus outbreak in China's Wuhan in December 2019.

On January 12, it reached 4,468 deaths in the United States and 4,211 deaths in Brazil on April 6. These three are the worst hit by the pandemic. India is now behind the US and Brazil in terms of Covid-19-related deaths.

After weeks of fighting a vicious second wave, new Covid cases fell below three lakh for the first time on May 17 after reaching a record high of 4,14,188 on May 7.
