Just because it’s a couple of years old and isn’t the latest anymore, an old smartphone is still a handy minicomputer stuffed with all manners of working sensors, and a few simple steps will transform it into a functional tool that can complement your everyday life
Car Dashcam
A dashcam is almost like an insurance policy. If you don't have a dashcam for your car already, an old smartphone held in a suction-cup-style phone holder is a perfect alternative. Install one of many dashcam apps (CarDVR and GSP for Android or CarCorder for iOS are decent options) and the app does the rest —deleting older videos to make space for newer ones, imprinting the videos with location and time information, etc.
