After Reserve Bank of India (RBI) restrictions on Paytm Payments Bank Ltd (PPBL), Paytm has now enabled direct FASTag recharges through its application. RBI had asked PPBL to stop taking fresh deposits from March 15, 2024, effectively stopping recharges into FASTags issued by the bank. FASTags, compulsory for all four-wheeler vehicles are tags that use radio-frequency identification technology (RFID) fixed to the vehicle’s windscreen to enable automatic toll deduction when you pass through a toll plaza. PPBL's FASTag users cannot recharge their balances post-March 15 but can use existing balances for payments. By giving a missed call at +91-8884333331, users who have registered their mobile number with NHAI Prepaid Wallet can check their balance and obtain a new FASTag issued by another bank if their balance is nearing zero.
