To avoid traffic blocks at toll plazas by streamlining e-toll collection, NHAI has mandated that all four-wheel drivers complete their FASTag cards' KYC (Know Your Customer) process by February 29, 2024. Non-compliance will lead to deactivation of FASTags and when you cross a toll plaza with such a card, you will be charged double the regular amount. FASTag, a mandatory requirement, is a sticker affixed on a vehicle's windscreen, for electronic toll payment at over 615 toll plazas in the country across national highways. Linked to a car's registration details, the barcode on each FASTag automatically deducts the toll fee from the associated digital wallet when the vehicle crosses a toll plaza. Even to get a third-party motor insurance FASTag is mandatory.
The NHAI announced that only the latest issued FASTag account would remain active with previous tags being deactivated or blacklisted. But some users may not have completed their latest FASTag's KYC update. If your FASTag KYC is incomplete, you will receive notification via email, SMS, or through issuing bank’s application interface regarding incomplete KYC. You are requested to keep an eye on your registered communication channels such as SMS, e-mail, etc. for updates.
All FASTag holders can update their KYC using any of the identity card, such as passport, driving license, Voter ID Card, PAN Card, or an aadhaar card.
How to Update FASTag KYC Details?
FASTags Directly Bought From NHAI: NHAI FASTag is a bank-neutral variant of FASTag, i.e. no bank is linked to the FASTag at the time of purchase by a customer. Such tags are purchased from toll plazas, petrol pump or from e-commerce websites like Amazon or Flipkart and then linked to any existing bank account through the My FASTag App.
Such users can update their KYC details online through the Indian Highways Management Company Limited (IHMCL) FASTag portal by following these steps:
Login into https://fastag.ihmcl.com and use your registered mobile number and password or OTP based validation to login into the IHMCL customer portal.
Once you login to the IHMCL customer portal, select the "My Profile" option from left side of the.,. menu.
Here you can see the status of your KYC, and other registration details.
Click on the 'KYC' sub-section next to 'Profile' sub-section.
Select the "Customer Type" and then fill the mandatory fields by submitting the required ID Proof and Address Proof documents along with your passport size Photo and Address (as per Address Proof).
Submit The Form
In maximum 7 working days your KYC will be processed
Any mismatch in the information provided, will get your KYC rejected and the same will be alerted to you for updating again.
