UPI Payments: Follow These Steps To Change UPI Transaction Limit

Outlook Money

UPI Transaction Limit

Recently, the National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) increased the per-transaction limit for certain categories on the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) making it possible to transact up to Rs 5 lakh per day.

Steps To Change UPI Transaction Limit

1. Check Bank’s UPI Limit: Since each bank has set its own transaction limit, one should first check what his/her bank allows.

Viewing current limit

The current limit can be checked by visiting the bank’s website or mobile banking application. This is followed by going to the UPI app, and under the ‘Bank Account’ section, one can check what limit is mentioned.

2. Put A Limit Increase Request

Once the current limit is established, one should contact the bank directly or visit the nearest branch to put in a limit increase request.

Things to remember

Limits vary significantly based on the bank’s policies. For example: Allahabad Bank's UPI transaction limit is capped a Rs 25,000 while Kotak Bank allows Rs 1 Lakh.

Higher Transactions

For higher transactions, one should make sure the merchants are verified to process these payments (like Rs 5 Lakh for taxes).
