The government has planned month-long activities to celebrate the International Day of Older Persons on October 1. These activities will focus on senior citizens’ welfare and promote inter-generational bonding.
The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment will launch a senior citizen welfare portal to provide information about various government schemes for elderly people's benefit.
A cultural event is planned on October 24, titled “Celebrating Graceful Ageing: Life Begins at 60”. It will showcase performances by various artists aged 70 and above.
On October 16, the National Institute of Social Defence will launch a talk series on senior citizens’ rights and healthy ageing.
