This scheme was launched on 31 November 2016 and named Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana (PMMVY) Yojana. It is a maternity benefit program for all expecting and lactating mothers.
Under this scheme, women get Rs 11 thousand annually. This amount is given to women by the government for the upbringing of their children. Now under this scheme, Rs 11,000 are sent to the beneficiaries in three phases.
Pradhan Mantri Matritva Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) benefits pregnant women and lactating mothers during the birth of the first live child.
Money is given in instalments. The first instalment of Rs 1000 at the time of pregnancy registration.
Rs 2000 is given as a second instalment if the beneficiary undergoes at least one antenatal checkup after six months of pregnancy.
Rs 2000 is given as a third instalment when the birth of the child is registered and the child starts the first vaccination cycle including BCG, OPV, DPT and Hepatitis-B.
To apply for the scheme, beneficiaries can apply with the required documents at www.pmmvy.nic.in. To avail of the benefit one has to apply online. Along with this, if the beneficiary can apply online, then she can get help from the Asha or ANM worker at her nearest health centre.
