MBPY is a pension program started on January 1, 2008, by the Women & Child Development Department, Government of Orissa.
Beneficiaries aged between 60-79 will receive a monthly pension of Rs 500. For those who are 80 years old, the pension would be Rs 700 per month.
One must be 60 years or older, a widow. One must be a leprosy patient with visible deformities and be at least five years old and unable to work normally owing to disabilities such as blindness, or cerebral palsy. One must also be the widow of an AIDS patient.
One can get the Application Form for free from the Block Development Officer's office in the Block area or, the Executive Officer, Municipality / NAC, Gram Panchayat Head Quarters free of cost.
The completed application form, along with the necessary documents, ar submitted to the BDO in the rural areas or, to the Executive Officer of the Municipality in the urban areas who acknowledges and sends it to record in the Form-MBPY-II Register.
When the application is received, an inquiry is done and it is sent to the Extension Officer who enquires into the eligibility of the applicant, scrutinizes the documents and sends it back to the BDO within 15 days. Once the BDO, scrutinize the applications and sent to the Sub-Collector who keeps a register to maintain applicants according to priorities.
