What Is Parivarik Labh Yojana

The National Family Benefit Scheme (NFBS) also called the Parivarik Labh Yojana was launched by the Ministry of Rural Development. It offers a one-time lump sum cash assistance of Rs. 20,000 to households who lose their main breadwinner, due to death.

Objective

The main objective of the scheme is to provide social security to families who are living below the poverty line (BPL).

Primary Breadwinner

This scheme identifies primary breadwinner based on who earned more, regardless of their gender. The breadwinner has to be aged between the ages of 18 and 60 when s/he passes away. However, death can be natural or accidental.

The family applying should be below the poverty line and the application for the scheme must be submitted within two years of the primary breadwinner’s death.

How To Apply

To apply, the first step is that the eligible families can either use the UMANG app or go to the official UMANG website. Then, log in using your mobile number and OTP.

Step Two

After logging in, basic details are filled which is followed by submitting required documents including the death certificate, identity proof, BPL card, etc. Then, the family selects the mode of payment, uploads a photo, and submits the form.
