To ensure transparency in the financial transactions of the Indian economy, Income Tax Department has made it mandatory to link Aadhar Card with PAN Card, If a person does not do so, the card will be deactivated under PAN card rules as per Rule 41 of Section 139AA of the IT Act, after which the person will not be able to use government services.
The first step is to visit the website www.incometaxindia.gov.in. On the left side of the home page, all important links are found.
After that go to the e-filing website for PAN-Aadhaar Linkage and click on the given link (“Go to E-filing website for PAN-Aadhaar Linkage”). On clicking one sees a pop-up message like: click on the link given below “continue to home page”.
After clicking on “Continue to Homepage” the pop-up given below will appear. Then click on the link “Link Aadhaar”.
After clicking on The "Link Aadhaar" link, sees a pop-up. Here one needs to click OK on the option “I agree to validate my Aadhaar details with UIDAI” and also fill in the “Captcha Code”. After filling in the required information asked here, one has to click on “Link Aadhaar” after which the required details have to be filled.
After clicking on the link "Aadhaar" gets another pop-up window in which it is asked to fill information related to PAN card number, (as per Aadhaar), date of birth, etc. After filling in these details, click on the link Aadhaar. Aadhaar will be linked within 2 to 5 working days.
One can also link Aadhaar and PAN card from mobile. For this, one has to go to text message and after writing UIDPAN, write the Aadhaar number and PAN number. After this message will have to be sent to 567678 or 56161. This message will reach the Aadhaar authority, after which you will get a confirmation message.
