PM Street Vendor’s AtmaNirbhar Nidhi offers a micro-credit facility to small vendors to help them resume their livelihood after the COVID-19 pandemic.
The scheme provides small loans to cart-pullers, street vendors, cobblers, etc., crippled by the pandemic lockdown. Those who are 60 and older can also apply to the scheme.
The lending institutions include scheduled commercial banks, regional rural banks, small finance banks, cooperative banks, non-banking financial companies, and micro-finance institutions.
The scheme provides a loan of Rs 10,000 as a working capital for a year.
The applicant must provide an Aadhaar or voter ID card, driving license, MNREGA or PAN card for Know-Your-Customer (KYC) verification.
The applicant must also get a letter of recommendation to operate as a street vendor. To obtain it, they must produce documents proving they received aid during the lockdown or membership information from vendors’ associations, etc.
