Will the insurer cover the damages if the owner himself was not driving the car?

The procedure would be similar to how you would raise a claim if you had met with an accident

The incident is unfortunate, but you need not worry as long as your friend was driving with a valid driving license and the car was not being used as a commercial cab. The insurer will cover the damages and the procedure would be similar to how you would raise a claim if you had met with an accident. The documents required to raise a claim would be a valid driver’s licence, the car’s registration certificate, a complaint with the insurer which may call for a surveyor’s report, original motor garage bills as well as receipts and anything else that the insurer seeks.
