Under the standard fire and special perils policy, damage caused by perils like storm, tempest, flood, and inundation are covered, which means your claim on the wiring short-circuit due to rains and water logging will be covered. However, in most policies, short-circuit is excluded under the standard fire insurance. This exclusion is applied on the apparatus that suffers short-circuit. However, consequential damages due to short circuit are covered.
