My signature is not matching with AMC records. What should I do to get my money?

Signature mismatch is a common occurrence, which is why several AMCs have a separate signature attestation form

I had invested in the ELSS in 2008 and completely forgot about it. When I signed up the redemption slip recently, the AMC refused the payment stating a signature mismatch. What can I do to get my money?

Do not be overly perturbed, as your money will come back to you. You should visit your bank, preferably the same bank through which you made this investment and see a signature attested by the bank manager. By doing so, the bank manager confirms your identity and the signature, which can be shared with the AMC to get your investment redeemed. Signature mismatch is a common occurrence, which is why several AMCs have a separate signature attestation form, which is solely for this purpose. Get this form signed if it is available with your AMC or simply use a preset format to get your signature verified and attested by the bank to redeem your investments.
