My parents are not dependent on me. Can I include them in a family floater?

As you are newly married, a family floater plan would include both you and your husband

I am 33 and got married recently. My husband and I are planning to buy a family floater plan. Can I include my parents in it? They live in a separate city and aren’t dependent on us.

A family floater is a mediclaim policy that takes care of the hospitalisation expenses of your entire family, including self, spouse, dependent children and dependent parents. It takes care of all the medical expenses during sudden illnesses, surgeries and accidents and provides a blanket cover to all the members included in a scheme.

As you are newly married, a family floater plan would include both you and your husband. As your parents are not dependent on you, they cannot get coverage under the same policy. You can, however, get a separate cover for your parents.
