Investing in gold is advisable only once you have a fully diversified portfolio. Moreover, six months is too short a period to consider investing in gold. However, if you still wish to invest in gold, consider investing in a gold ETF for which you will need a demat account or alternately into any gold fund from an AMC, where the underlying investment are mostly in a gold ETF. There is very little to compare between gold ETFs, but with gold funds, look for a fund with performance track record and what other asset class the fund invests in besides gold.
