No. Expenses cannot be covered under the Overseas Mediclaim Policy. The coverage under the medical expense section of this insurance is intended for use by the insured person, only in the event of a sudden and unexpected sickness or accident, arising when the insured is outside India. Since your father has already been diagnosed with cancer, in terms of insurance, his condition would be termed as ‘pre-existing condition’ and as per the terms and conditions of the Overseas Medicalim Policy, the provision of indemnity in respect of medical services, the need for which arises out of a pre-existing condition, falls within the exclusions of the policy.
