The lump sum amount of Rs 80,000 paid by you towards admission fees, annual charges, development fees, security deposit etc. cannot be claimed as deduction Under Section 80C of the Income Tax Act. The Section only allows for deduction of monthly tuition fees paid to school, college or any other recognised university for full time education of maximum two children of an individual. There is no upper limit for the amount that can be claimed as a deduction with regard to tuition fees, so you can claim the actual amount paid by you in full. Figure the tuition fee to be paid for your daughter’s schooling in a year and claim that sum. Anything other than fee like admission fee or deposit cannot be claimed under the Section 80C window.
