Under this scheme, the maximum amount of pension that one can receive is Rs 700 per month.
The "Madhu Babu Pension Yojana (MBPY)" started on January 1, 2008, is a pension program by the Women & Child Development Department, Government of Orissa. It's available across the state and extends benefits to those already covered by the "State Old Age Pension Scheme, 1989" and the "Orissa Disability Pension Scheme, 1985." Eligible individuals receive a monthly pension of up to Rs 700.
Benefits: Beneficiaries aged between 60-79 will receive a monthly pension of Rs 500. For those who are 80 years old, the pension would be Rs 700 per month. Pensions will be distributed on the 15th of each month, in Rs 100 increments, on "JANA SEWA DlWAS."
To apply, you must qualify for one of the following:
You must be 60 years or older. You must be a widow. You must be a leprosy patient with visible deformities. You must be at least five years old and unable to work normally owing to disabilities such as blindness, orthopaedic handicaps, mental retardation, or cerebral palsy. You must be the widow of an AIDS patient.
Step 1: You can get the Application Form for free from the Block Development Officer's office in the Block area or, the Executive Officer, Municipality / NAC, Gram Panchayat Head Quarters free of cost.
Step 2: The completed application form, filled out as instructed, along with the necessary documents, shall be submitted to the Block Development Officer in the rural areas or, to the Executive Officer of the N.A.C./ Municipality in the urban areas or, to the Officer disbursing the Pension at the disbursement place.
Step 3: Get acknowledgement of receipt immediately.
Step 4: The application will be given to the Block Development Officer to be recorded in the Form-MBPY-II Register (organized by Gram Panchayat) maintained at the Block level in order of priority based on the date and time of receipt of application at either end.
Step 1: When the application is received, the Block Development Officer (BDO) will get it entered in the register in Form-MBPY-II through the Social Educational Organizer.
Step 2: Then, he will arrange for an inquiry by the relevant Extension Officer who has been assigned to the concerned Gram Panchayat / Urban Body for supervision. In urban areas, the Extension Officer may seek assistance from the Executive Officer of the Municipality/N.A.C for inquiry of the application.
Step 3: Upon receiving the application from the BDO, every Extension Officer will enquire into the eligibility of the applicant, scrutinize the documents enclosed thoroughly with personal contact with the certifying officer record his findings on the body of the application, and send it back to the BDO within 15 days.
Step 4: Once the applications are received from the Extension Officer, the BDO shall personally scrutinize the applications, recommending them to the Sub-Collector within 15 days.
Step 5: The Sub-Collector will keep the register in Form MBPY-III organized according to the priority of applications as indicated by the BDO Gram Panchayat-wise / Block-wise / N.A.C.-wise / Municipality-wise.
