Free Health Check-Ups
As part of its International Women's Day celebration on March 8, 2023, general insurance company ICICI Lombard has come up with special offers for women and its agents, which will be valid throughout the month.
Free Health Check-Ups
The company will offer free health check-ups to 10,000 women in major cities across India on a first-come, first-served basis. The check-ups will cover a complete blood count (CBC) test, thyroid profile, vitamin D and B12, RBS, and Ferratin (Iron study). In addition, the company will promote its various health insurance products as part of this campaign.
Women can access these services through the IL TakeCare app, which provides an easy-to-use platform to manage health and insurance needs, ICICI Lombard (IL) said in a statement.
According to the National Family Health Survey (NFHS-5), only 30 per cent of women in India in the 15-49 age group have health coverage. With women climbing the ladder of success and making their mark in every sector of the economy, it is imperative to cover their health needs to protect their finances, IL notes.
Sanjeev Mantri, Executive Director, ICICI Lombard, says, “This International Women’s Day (IWD), we want to acknowledge their tremendous contribution and spread awareness for women to take charge of their health through these initiatives. In addition, women as a segment remain highly underpenetrated; hence we endeavor to accelerate the change and encourage more women to take an active part in their insurance and financial decision-making.”
A recent survey by the company noted that 23 per cent of women are unaware of women-specific health insurance plans.
Roadside Assistance
Women can also avail of roadside assistance (RSA) during the entire month of March from ICICI Lombard 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
They can get support in coping with a car breakdown, accidents, flat tyre, loss of fuel, electrical failure, etc., when driving during odd hours. Women motorists can call IL's customer care for assistance.
The assistance extended by the company will market a roadside assistance feature, an add-on to a comprehensive car insurance policy. You can consider a roadside assistance plan if you enjoy long-distance car trips.
Moreover, the company intends to conduct a comprehensive training programme to recruit and educate more women agents and brokers.
The ICICI Lombard survey on Women's Awareness and Attitude towards General Insurance in India indicates that 60 per cent of financially independent women over 40 have purchased a general insurance policy.
