Customers just have to use their Aadhaar data or biometric to access their Aadhaar-linked bank accounts and conduct basic banking transactions to withdraw the cash.

AePS is a payment service that allows a bank customer to use Aadhaar as the identity document to access his or her Aadhaar-enabled bank account and perform basic banking transactions.

“IPPB as an acquirer bank does not put any limit on any AePS transactions for other bank customers. However, the issuing bank maintains these limits based on customer profile and risk management practices. NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India) has set a maximum transaction amount of Rs. 10,000 on a single AePS financial transaction,” the AEPS FAQ says.

Through AePS, you can withdraw cash from your account, perform balance enquiry, request for a mini statement and can transfer funds to another Aadhaar-enabled account. This service is especially beneficial to senior citizens, individuals with disabilities, and those preferring home delivery due to some other emergencies. While there are no transactional charges for many of the services offered, the doorstep service charges will apply as per the bank that provides the services.

How To Avail The Services?

Here are the steps to avail of this service.

• Visit India Post Payments Bank Website and click on ‘service request’ in the menu.

• Specify if you are an IPPB customer or not and choose ‘Door Step Banking’.

• Select ‘ATM Based Cash Withdrawal From Any Aadhaar-Linked Bank Account’.

• Enter basic details and click on ‘Submit’. The banking correspondent will come to your doorstep.

You can use AePS only with your biometric and take out cash or make payments from an Aadhaar-linked account. In order to use AePS, you also need a bank account in which biometric authentication is enabled. The account should be with a bank participating in AePS and your Aadhaar must be linked to the bank. Registration process shall be as per the procedures laid down by the issuer bank providing the service.

Also note that if the customer has multiple accounts within the same bank linked to Aadhaar, AePS services will work with only the primary account associated with the Aadhaar.
